#51: 2012

I thought this was a such an effective idea to use if you are into the resolution thing.  I don't like committing to too much when it comes to resolutions because I want to realistic and make sure if I do resolve to do something that I follow through with it.  So if I'm gonna say it (either in my mind or out loud) I choose few things/sometimes just one thing, and try to make realistic steps towards being aware of the goal frequently and working towards it.  Its nice to go have this tool though to go through the process.

#50: classy easy ideas.

I love finding little ideas, by around town observation and online inspection.  I walked around Denver today and through a couple thrifty stores.  Did not find what I was looking for, but thats ok. I always enjoy walking around and noticing what others are wearing in different locations and area cultures.  One thing that I see very often in Goodwills and thrift shops is camel color coats such as the one from the picture at top.  I love that this is, once again, easy and very attainable...from what I've noticed and learned by looking at styles such as these is, its really all about the unexpected details.  In both the first and second photo a common unexpected detail would be the shoes.  You've got very nice top pieces such as the coat and  blouses, mixed with sneakers.  The long time classic type of sneakers, in nuetral friendly colors. That kind of thing takes normal pieces and turns an ensemble into casual chic.  So fun I think.  I am also digging those 60's styled sunnies.  The round kind.  I think I will have a chance to head to h&m tomorrow.  I'm gonna see if I can find some good old stylish cheapies to add into my small collection.  Even though I love trying out new styles of glasses, I always seem to go back to my classic black rayban wayfarer.  I've worn them for 2 years now... I used to have lovely aviators like the one's above, but my guy sat on them by accident... he surprised me by buying me a new pair.  And even though they are a very different style I loved them immediately.  Anyhow, point is, its always fun to add in a new trendy pair, and this style seems to continue to come back.  Good indication if you ask me!

#49: shopping list

I'm still in CO for a little while, and getting ready to hit up the Denver Goodwills. I've been thinking about the specific things I would like to treasure hunt for.  On my shopping list?...

A leopard'ish coat... I adore Emerson.  She designs and makes amazing clothes.  Look up Emerson Made.

And something RED.  Preferably an accessory such as this one, or something that I can slowly add into my wardrobe, to make sure I am in love with red as much as I think I am.

Although this dress on Alexa Chung would be fun to find too :)  I just love her, and how she pairs unexpected things together.

I will always be on the search for the perfect crisp white shirt...

My fave, Garance.  This photo was taken by her husband, so sweet.  Her look is entirely lovely and classic all the time!  Google her to find her blog, if you haven't heard of her already.

Wish me luck!

#48: Merry Christmas

Pinned Image

Pinned Image

Merry Christmas to All! And to all a good night!!!
Yes, christmas eve it is...
I am happy to say that it is supposed to be a warmer day of 50 degrees on xmas tomorrow, but still white from all the snow we recently got!  Best of both worlds huh?!!
Although I like snow on xmas, I love warmer weather, and always will. If I were in a warmer place tomorrow this is what I would want to wear.  I am digging red.  I'm gonna thrift some next week hopefully!
I hope this finds everyone tucked in snug as a bug in a rug, or having a warm and fabulous evening with lovies.
Thanks to Jesus for coming down here as a baby to this smutty world, teaching us true love, and for his ultimate love gift, and major sacrifice.

#47: how its made

When I was a kid I loooovvvveeeedddd watching Mr. Rogers... (yea I know).  My favorite part of each bit of episode, were the little specials that Mr. Rogers would show, about how things are made.  I remember watching how toothbrushes were made, gum, and shoes!  Well, I just found this video and it reminded me of old times with Mr. R. Thought I would share.  Also, now that I have seen this, I have an even greater respect for quality handmade pieces for daily life. ;)

#46: Closet: +for the home+

(by ordinarycitizens)

One thing I love about decor, is that it is so similar to fashion. Its a an artwork and expression of one's self using the blank canvas given to them... wether a person may say that they don't call themselves artful, there is still always expression of one's self in these to mediums.  These are some of my inspirations as of now.  What are some of yours?  I would love to feature your expressions of self!  ps.  they don't have to be "pretty"... sometimes what we need or want to express isn't.

#45: Haven't seen photo... but have major movie love.

selfinspiration:

Screen test shots of Audrey Hepburn for the film “Breakfast at Tiffany’s,” 1961.

I have seen several beautiful and lovely photo's of the miss Audrey H, but just recently found this one that I didn't remember.  They are are her test screen shots for Breakfast at Tiffany's.   She is always a classic and still a fashion inspiration.  So its safe to say that following some of her fashion tricks will not only feel present day, but carry you through time.  And not only that, but so many of her compilations are simple and would be so easy to find/put together...well...anywhere!
This is also such a pleasant movie to watch too.  I recommend it. ;)

                                                                       +bye bye bye+

ps. don't know why but my last 2 post say that I posted on Mon. the 19th.  Correction... I posted on the 20th and 21st.  Just sayin :)

#44: shoes and +

Shoooooooezzz

Love both pairs... I did find similar black at goodwill, but they are a little tight, I have decided. So I'm still kind of on my search. But I'm in a new location and I'm gonna go thrifting soon!

Love this video... this is why I love fashion.  Its a form of art and expression.

#43: just to see it.

#42: on the look out for...

A giant black bag. Goodwill hunting here I come.

#41: just a side note of music

Have always thought this song was great... and it reminds me of Kandyce and Kyle... if you don't know why... you need to ask them why this song has significance to them... trust me. You will be glad you did!! You will be a much happier person for it :)

+So I've been on a bit of a breaking vacation to the wintery CO to be with my family for the holiday.  Its been so lovely being here and as always, when I arrive, my sweet family is so excited that I'm here that,  we rush off to do as many fun things as possible, XMAS shop and have dinners together, as soon as possible. Its a rush of excitement and I love it! I am also enjoying a bit of some down time, as I sit here with some hot tea and my keyboard.

+I picked out a few things that I gathered some inspiration from for the holiday... (I really wanted to post about all kinds of different thrifty little gifts for loved ones, but have such a hard time finding the things I would like to post for this topic...but there are a few more days until xmas...so maybe I'll find some stuff for the last min. shoppers like myself)

+I have, all of the sudden, been enjoying bright red.  I even mentioned this random surprise to my friend Kimi on the phone last week'ish, how odd it is, because I never used to be drawn to the color... but well... like taste buds, our preferences can evolve from time to time I guess.  I love the simple grey/black jean, white crisp top and, oddly... the shoes!! The color is really what I love here.  Such a great little, simple, easy to be chic, Christmas day attire. (wanted to share the compilation idea). Also, one of the sweet little gifts my mom wanted to do with me was a spa day... we had our hair done, and manicures.  I chose bright poppy red.

+This painting is so fun to me, cause colors... yes, but the reason I was drawn in was the movement I felt when looking at it.  So much like twirling.

+The boots.  I've been on my black boot search for quite some time.  My mother must have know this and had a good idea of what I like... These were my xmas gift.  Leather so soft, and super comfy cozy... I may wear them everyday!

+I really liked the picture of all the people playing in the snow... The old school photo and the couple.  Cody gets here on Christmas day! So loving it when we are all together for xmas.  I hope it snows more while I'm here so we can play out in its fluffiness.  Remember... to BE PLAYFUL AND CHILDLIKE THIS HOLIDAY!

#39: Airport.

Pinned Image

So I'm actually sitting at the airport right now, on my way to CO, and writing about "airport clothes", as I like to call em.  This may be embarrassing to admit, (but I know names of others that share my thoughts) but I plan out my airport travel outfit... not necessarily to be comfy, although it does factor in, but more because its something different to dress for and also its nice when traveling alone, to pull out that piece of clothing you are a bit shy to wear around for the first time (like a new statement item that you aren't sure you can pull off/comfortable pulling off yet) and you want to see how you feel in it, around people you don't know.  So now that I look down at my airport outfit I realize I don't have any such statement piece on, but I did plan my outfit out.  I love Gwyneth, we know this... but also... doesn't she have great airport clothes!?!    This is the essential style I am always working on, so... of course when I found these pictures of her "airport clothes" I had to post about it... and pull inspiration from it for my next airport day.

Boarding soon...                                               +Ciao friends!!+

#38: working on it.

After a dreadful attempt at trying to finish a painting, I have promised to some lovely people, I needed something to cheer me up... (I'm working on my relationship with painting/creating lately, because its a little dysfunctional at the moment)

This dress I thought was so super lovely... I had to post it.  Pinned Image

I also love this woman's style and hat.

Weekend: Scarves

Ok, no joke... this picture is, exactly to a "T", what Walla Walla looks like right now.  For 48 hours now the trees have kept their Narnia like frost and the roads... well... so have they.  Its been super cold here, but incredibly beautiful.  With all this freezing weather, one just wants to warm up with a good old scarf wrapped around like a blanket... or at least I do. I needed some scarf inspiration so I dedicated this post to some that gave me more ideas on the blanket'y style. I will never not love scarves. They truly are the best.  Well...
Happy Weekend to you!
